With unprecedented temperatures this summer, it’s easy to get heated. Read on to find out how you can avoid letting this interfere with your travel plans.
Step 1: Take deep breaths.
Take many deep breaths. When the temperature goes up, many of us get a little on edge. Tempers are quick to start, and conversations can escalate quickly to arguments. Next time something (or someone) is nagging at you, try to keep a cool head on your shoulders by taking calm, restorative breaths.
Step 2: Embrace the fans.
Are you traveling by car for hours and hours? Check out this portable fan that looks a little like something from a Netflix show. It has a tripod and bendable legs so can easily attach to whatever is around you while traveling.
Step 3: Be sensible.
If you are driving for hours and hours, make sure your car is up to snuff before heading out. Also make sure you have plenty of water and even a few shelf stable food items just in case you get stranded. Try to take breaks between legs of the journey to give your car a chance to recuperate.
Step 4: Wipe away your worries.
These awesome portable wet wipes can be used to wick away sweat anywhere. Plus, they’re biodegradable, meaning you’re not harming the planet as you could be with other types of wipes! Pick up a packet before your next journey.
Step 5: Plan timely travel.
Try to plan your travel for either early morning or later in the evening to beat the heat of the day. Obviously, if you plan right for mid day or early afternoon, you’ll be struggling with the heat more.
Step 6: Pack your coolbox.
OK, so this tip is mostly for car travel. We never leave on a road trip without having our handy cool box packed with ice and lots of cold drinks for the road. We often refill the ice as it melts at gas stations along the way. Cooling down with a nice beverage is definitely a great way to beat the heat.
Step 7: Invest in new technology.
Check out these cool neck wraps that’ll keep you ice cold during your trip. Simply place around your neck and chill out. They’re reusable, too.
Step 8: HYDRATE.
No matter whether you’re traveling by car, plane, train, bus, unicycle, or horse-drawn carriage, you need to stay well hydrated. We love taking empty re-usable water bottles to the airport and filling them up before we board. When you’re done, they fold up nicely into your baggage.
And that’s it! Where are you traveling to during this heat wave? Comment below and let us know!

[…] We had a little more time and planned to journey into Utah and Colorado while in that neck of the woods. It made sense for us to road trip there though it’s an eight hour trip from LA. We visited during August meaning it was very hot! Make sure you have plenty of engine coolant before you leave, and check out our tips for surviving a road trip in a heat wave. […]
