11 of Our Favorite Sweet Treats from Around the World

We have a major sweet tooth and can’t resist sampling sugary delicacies on our adventures. Here is our short list of our favorites!

1. Skillingsbolle from Norway

This delicious Norwegian baked treat is a twist on cinnamon buns. We found these delicious delicacies at the top of the funicular in Bergen.

2. Cheese Pie from Greece

We thought this was going to be a savory dish, but due to the fresh orange blossom honey it ended up being quite sweet! The pastry melted in our mouths and complemented the cheese from Skopelos Island very well. Check out other Greek eats here.

3. Afternoon Tea in London.

We are partial to the fare at Harrod’s Tea Room, but any afternoon tea comes with a delicious assortment of sandwiches, scones and petite fours. You’ll be in sugar overload and ready to explore all London has to offer.

4. Churros from Mexico.

Sorry, we don’t have a picture of these. That’s because every time we buy these cinnamon sugar coated long donuts, we inhale them immediately. Enough said. Check out our Mexico landing page here!

5. Boozy chocolate shakes from Belize.

Chocolate, bananas and dessert rum make this decadent sweet treat unbelizeable!

6. Canada Ice Cream.

Even though Banff was pretty cold out, the line for Canada Ice Cream was out the door and around the block! It’s easy to see why with their tasty and unique flavors.

7. Dole Whip from Hawaii.

Pro tip – you can get this at Disneyland as well, if you don’t want to go all the way to Hawaii! This pineapple goodness is so refreshing and light, we can’t miss it on our trips to Oahu.

8. Banana coconut pancakes from Fiji.

Topped with guava jam. This tropical spin on a classic breakfast staple really sets a great tone for your day! Bula vinaka!

9. Honey cake from Greece.

You can’t go wrong with anything honey-related from Greece. This one had just a sprinkling of coconut on top, and was served complementary after our meal!

10. Fresh fruit from Sri Lanka.

While visiting Sri Lanka we were treated to a variety of different fresh fruits. We also were able to sample fruit juices and blends that we had not tried before. All was freshly picked and prepared!

11. Stroopwafel from Amsterdam.

These delicious waffle cookies sandwich together a thin layer of caramel. It tastes pretty good on its own, but for maximal deliciousness place on top of a mug of hot coffee or tea and allow it to warm for a few minutes! It’ll turn into a soft, chewy caramel delight.
