Sometimes, you just have to treat yourself.
We found ourselves at Chicago O’Hare with a good three hours before our flight back to LAX and decided to splurge on the day pass at the United Club in Terminal 1. O’Hare is a United hub, and due to our Silver Elite status on United we find it a convenient airport to connect through.
There are four total United Clubs at O’Hare and one United Polaris Lounge. You have to meet certain criteria to get into the Polaris Lounge and they seem to be targeted more towards non-economy international flights. This review is specifically about the Terminal 1 United Club next to gate B18.
Day passes are offered for $59 per person, and the airport was very crowded so we decided to escape into the lounge for some relaxation. This is only offered if the lounge is not at capacity (we flew through ORD over Christmas and they were full).
When you enter the sliding doors, day passes are available at the desk on your right. The agent checking us in also gave us some literature on United credit cards and included a code for extra miles. You then descend the escalator and enter the main lounge area. As far as food goes, there is a station with half wraps and sandwiches, salad and a few lighter bites. There were full bowls of fruit and individually packaged chips as well. To drink, there is a soda fountain (no cans) and a coffee machine which dispenses delicious espresso drinks. There is a bar towards the back of the lounge with complimentary beverages.
Wifi was included in our stay and we thought there was ample seating next to chargers for our phones and laptops. The lounge itself is bright and feels spacious as it is set across multiple levels.
Overall, we found this to be one of the better lounge experiences we have had. Perhaps because it is not overrun with Priority Pass users as many other lounges are!
