8 Stunning Weekend Destinations for your January Getaway

The post holidays and New Years month can sometimes be…kind of blah. January can be the best month of the year to escape from reality on an amazing getaway. Read on to find out our best recommendations!

1. Cabo, Mexico.

Cabo is a quick two and a half hour flight from LAX (keep in mind you’ll have to go through immigration on the other end). You’ll be treated to cotton candy sunsets, sailing adventures, great fishing, and even better food in this oasis at the tip of the Baja California peninsula.

2. Oahu, HI.

Oahu is really accessible particularly from the west coast, with nonstop affordable flights going out of LAX and San Diego airports. It is on the pricier side of destinations, but the sandy stretches of pristine beaches and warm weather will make it worth it. Say hi to the sea turtles for us!

3. Scottsdale, AZ.

Relax by the pool and sip on mocktails for dry January in Scottsdale, Arizona, or play a round of golf at one of the many luxurious golf ranges. There are also plenty of food offerings in Old Town Scottsdale and beautiful outdoor hiking opportunities.

4. San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Alright, maybe this one is better for a long weekend, depending on where you live. JetBlue has direct flights to San Juan, PR from multiple airports in the continental US that are quick and affordable. On the other end, you’ll experience tropical beaches, perfect weather and delicious food making for a perfect January getaway.

5. Austin, TX.

January is the perfect month to visit Austin and beat the long lines for popular barbecue spots. You can also sample some of the local brews and try your hand (or feet) at two-stepping at a local bar.

6. Las Vegas, NV.

Las Vegas is typically very hot and dry for most of the year, but in January the temperature takes a little dip. Most days still have plenty of sun, but the crowds tend to clear out a bit allowing you to snag tickets to shows that you might not normally be able to get.

7. Albuquerque, NM.

Boasting 310 days of sunshine, Albuquerque is a lovely choice for a post-holiday getaway. You’ll most likely catch the snowcapped Sandia mountains and enjoy the crisp but sunny climate. Sip on a pinon hot coffee and enjoy some biscochitos from a local bakery and wander around Old Town, or hike one of the many foothills trails.

8. Palm Springs, CA.

If you like awesome and hectic weekend pool parties, check out the iconic Saguaro hotel. For a more relaxed vibe, look into the Andalusian – many of the rooms come with their own personal outdoor hot tub. In January, the intense heat of the desert dips enough to enjoy all this palm oasis has to offer.
